Chicago, Moscow sister-relationship at question

A Chicago City Council committee plans to hear testimony about suspending Chicago's sister city relationship with Moscow.

Council officials say the Committee on Human Relations will take up the issue Tuesday. A resolution calls upon the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events to suspend Chicago's sister-city agreement until Russia withdraws troops from the Crimean peninsula.

City officials say the consul general of the Ukraine in Chicago is to testify along with a representative of the Illinois division of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America.

Four Chicago aldermen are sponsoring the resolution.

Russia placing of military in Ukraine's Crimea region represents a challenged to the pro-European government in Kiev.
