Libertyville wins twice in Florida

In Florida, Libertyville's softball team got two decisive wins Monday, defeating Opeka of Alabama 14-0 and Bleuah of Alabama 5-1.

Against Opeka, Jamie Stevens, Haley Alban, Michaela Mooney and Sam Hilldale each had 2 hits. Alban had a home run and a triple while Hilldale had a double.

Alban was also the winning pitcher. She went 5 innings and struck out four.

Against Bleuah, Mooney had 3 hits and Carlie Haraden had 2 hits. One of Mooney's hits was a triple.

Haraden was the winning pitcher. She went the distance and rolled up 8 strikeouts.

Grayslake North 7, Fieldston 1: Pitcher Nikki Livengood went the distance and rolled up 11 strikeouts for Grayslake North.

Livengood also led the offense with 3 hits, including a double and a home run. Teammates Kayla Switalla, Mariah Gentile and Kaitlyn Olsen each had 2 hits.

Beech (Tenn.) 12, Grayslake Central 0: In Florida, Grayslake Central had a tough time against a team that has been to the Tennessee state title game nine times in the last 15 years.

Jamie Brew, Brandy Heraty and Brittany Brown each had one of the Rams' 3 hits.
