Errors pave way to Cougars' win

Despite scoring in only 2 of 11 innings, the Kane County Cougars did not disappoint for their first win in the month of May. The Cougars (19-9) used Burlington errors for all 3 of their runs in a 3-2 victory over the Bees (15-11) in front of 6,311 at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark on Friday night.

Jordan Hankins hit a two-out double in the 11th and scored when David Bote reached on an error by third baseman Angel Rosa.

Two Burlington errors allowed the Cougars to jump out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Jake Hannemann started the offense with a leadoff single and moved to second on an error by Rosa from Carlos Penalver's grounder. Yasiel Balaguert followed with a groundball, but Erick Salcedo committed a throwing error to allow Balaguert a spot on second base and Hannemann to come home. Balaguert made it to third base on a wild pitch and scored on Will Remillard's groundout for a 2-0 Cougars lead.

Tyler Bremer (3-0) earned the win with 2 scoreless innings. Alan Busenitz (0-2) suffered the loss.

The series between the teams continues Saturday. Jen-Ho Tseng (2-0, 2.66) makes his fifth start for the Cougars against Burlington's Harrison Cooner (2-1, 1.06). First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. For tickets call 630-232-8811 or log onto kccougars.com.
