Des Plaines honors NFL's Punt, Pass and Kick champ

Des Plaines resident Alisa Fallon is being honored by her hometown for winning a contest that put her in the national spotlight earlier this year.

The 14-year-old claimed first place in the NFL's 52nd annual Punt, Pass and Kick contest in the 14- to 15-year-old girls category. She was one of only 10 winners from across the country.

On Monday, she was honored by Des Plaines Mayor Matt Bogusz with a proclamation during a city council meeting.

In the proclamation, Bogusz noted Alisa's "hard work, determination and athletic ability."

Alisa's punt of 121 feet, 2 inches, pass of 122 feet, and kick of 144 feet, 3 inches earned her the high score in her category.

On Jan. 12, she was recognized in front of 78,000 fans and a national television audience during a divisional playoff game between the Denver Broncos and the San Diego Chargers.

Alisa got to the national stage after training with a former collegiate kicker in Rosemont's sports dome.
