Registration opens for 2014 Chicago Marathon

After a two-week postponement, registration for the 2014 Bank of America Chicago Marathon opened at noon at chicagomarathon.com.

The 37th annual event will take place on Sunday, Oct. 12, and 45,000 participants are expected to enter the race. Runners can register with a guaranteed entry or enter the non-guaranteed entry lottery at any time between today and noon April 7.

There are four options for guaranteed entry into the 2014 Bank of America Chicago Marathon: those who opt to run with an official Chicago Marathon charity; those who opt to run with an official Chicago Marathon tour partner; legacy finishers who have finished the Chicago Marathon five or more times within the last 10 years; and time qualifiers who have run a sub 3:15:00 marathon (men) or sub 3:45:00 marathon (women) since Jan. 1, 2012.

All others can enter the non-guaranteed entry lottery, which entails a random selection of names from the lottery pool to fill the remaining spots in the participant field. Lottery entrants will be notified of their selection status on April 14.

The 2014 Bank of America Chicago Marathon registration fee is $185 for U.S. residents or $210 for those residing outside of the U.S.
