Midway unveiling new passport control system

Aviation and customs officials in Chicago are unveiling a new system at Midway International Airport meant to speed up passport control for travelers arriving from abroad.

A ribbon-cutting is set for Wednesday for the Automated Passport Control system.

It involves self-service kiosks that let travelers scan their own passports and complete one part of the border control process before even reaching an officer. It's supposed to reduce processing time for travelers.

Among those scheduled to take part in the unveiling ceremony are the commissioner of Chicago Department of Aviation, Rosemarie Andolino and the area port director for Customs and Border Protection, Matthew Davies.
