Stolman wins GOP treasurer's race

In a battle that pitted one of Lake County's most veteran politicians against one of its newest, experience won out Tuesday.

David Stolman, a 22-year Lake County Board member from Buffalo Grove, snagged the Republican Party nomination for county treasurer. He defeated Mundelein's Jeri Atleson, a member of the Fremont Township board who entered politics in 2012 as a library trustee.

With ballots in all 415 precincts counted, Stolman had 20,965 votes to Atleson's 16,293, unofficial results showed.

Stolman now will face Democrat Cynthia Plouche of Highland Park in the November general election.

The winner gets a 4-year term.
