Man rescued from car in retention pond

A good Samaritan rescued a man whose car went into a Lincolnshire retention pond Monday evening, firefighters said.

The car, for unknown reasons, went into the pond at Milwaukee Avenue and Knightsbridge Parkway at about 6 p.m., firefighters from Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District said.

By the time firefighters arrived on the scene, the good Samaritan had thrown a rope to the driver, and he had been pulled to shore.

Paramedics treated the driver on the scene and released him, firefighters said.
