I am disappointed to receive a letter from Ed Levato in an envelope from the DuPage County Republican Central Committee containing his personal recommendation on a sample ballot to vote "No" for the Community Aquatic Center at Lake Park High School.

My family moved here in the 1950s, when Bloomingdale was a village of about 500. My dad was a village trustee who helped start the park district; my mom promoted building the library.

Bloomingdale has changed tremendously and become a more desirable community. That is why I live here.

My family has always supported referendums benefiting our town, like the community pool. Knowing how to swim is an important life skill. Every Lake Park student would have the opportunity to learn how to swim and respond in a water emergency. There are over 100 bodies of water in Bloomingdale Township; hence, the Fire Department's Water Rescue Team.

I also believe athletics benefit children. LP offers many opportunities; however, few of them are no-cut sports that welcome every student, including those with special needs or disabilities. The warming pool will benefit any athlete recovering from injury, allowing hydrotherapy.

I believe the pool will benefit a large portion of the community with free daily lap swim and classes and programs offered by park districts.

This constituent will be voting "Yes," twice.
