Rosemont convention center to receive $2.5 million in upgrades

Rosemont's Donald E. Stephens Convention Center will undergo some $2.5 million in improvements funded by the facility's concessions vendor.

The village board this week approved amendments to agreements in which Aramark Sports and Entertainment Services will provide the funds to upgrade the north ballroom, a pedestrian walkway and concession areas throughout the facility.

And five years from now, Aramark will pay $500,000 for additional renovations — a number that will be matched by the village. Officials will decide at that time exactly which facility improvements to make, according to Mayor Brad Stephens.

The village board also agreed to extend agreements with Aramark for concession operations at the convention center, Allstate Arena and Rosemont Theatre through Dec. 31, 2029.

Aramark not only operates concession stands at the three venues, but also manages catering at the convention center ballrooms and operates the Skyline Room across the street from the arena.
