Bartlett police name officer of 2013

The Bartlett police department has chosen its officer and civilian employee of the year.

The honor went to Sgt. Jessica Crowley, a 19-year veteran with the department.

Crowley implemented a crisis intervention team last year. The department recognized her guidance and "invaluable training" for the team in a news release Thursday.

She also was praised for her leadership supervising the response to a crash that caused a Metra train derailment in October 2013. Besides her duties as a cop, Crowley volunteers for the Northern Illinois Critical Incident Stress Management Team.

The department also lauded its civilian employee of the year, Michael Brady.

He has spent two years with Bartlett as the property control custodian and court liaison officer after serving as a Hoffman Estates police officer.

Brady helps officers properly submit evidence and acts as a link between the department and courts in Cook, DuPage and Kane counties.

The department noted his professionalism and commitment to the job.
