One dead in Woodstock fire

One person is dead after a house fire in Woodstock, officials confirmed on Thursday night.

Firefighters responded to the 500 block of Kimball Avenue around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, said Woodstock Fire Capt. Michael Hill.

The fire was under control within about 20 minutes, but the only occupant of the house was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was injured in the fire.

Officials would not release information about the deceased pending family notification.

Spring Grove, Algonquin, Huntley, Harvard, Union, Lakewood Crystal Lake, Wonder Lake and Marengo also assisted with the fire after a box alarm was activated, Hill said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, Hill said. State investigators were on the scene late Thursday night because the fire involved a fatality.
