Brides can sample the goods at Eddie Merlot's cakes and cocktails event from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, in Lincolnshire. The evening includes complimentary cocktails and small bites. Paint and sip

Live by Pinot's Palette's slogan "paint, drink and have fun" at an open house from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday March, 2, and every other Sunday in March. Choose from 15 different styles of 8-by-8-inch self-guided mini-paintings for $10 each. And drink half-priced mimosas. Bar offerings include wine, craft beer and select spirits.

School's in session

Hit the books at Tap House Grill's monthly beer school Thursday, March 6. It's time to learn about stout beers. The evening includes sample tastings, food and beer pairings, free appetizers, beer swag and mini training certificates. All free. The bell rings at 6:30 p.m., so don't be tardy.
