Men from Elk Grove, Rosemont charged with drug crimes

Two Northwest suburban men are facing drug charges after police discovered cocaine worth about $9,000 in their car this week in McHenry, authorities said.

Officials with the McHenry County sheriff's office said the discovery of drugs came during a traffic stop at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday near Route 120 and Riverside Drive in McHenry.

A McHenry County police dog and deputies searched the vehicle, finding 8 ounces of cocaine in the back seat, authorities said.

Jose A. Galvan, 26, of the 900 block of Creighton Avenue in Elk Grove Village, and Juan C. Martinez, 23, of the 10400 block of Doris Court in Rosemont, were each charged with unlawful delivery and possession of a controlled substance.

Bond was set at $100,000. Martinez posted the required 10 percent of that amount to be released Thursday afternoon.

Both men are due in court Friday.
