Teams sought for Fox River Shiver:

The Broken Oar on the Fox River in Port Barrington hosts its 2nd annual Fox River Shiver on Sunday, March 9, in which volunteers dress in costume and brave the icy river for a good cause. Participants are needed to form teams of four or more (and individuals) and obtain pledges or donations to take "the plunge" to benefit Lurie Children's Hospital. Spectators are also asked to purchase souvenir pins for a $5 donation to attend the event. Registered participants will receive free event T-shirts and the chance to win prizes. The event includes a free VIP pre-party in the tent for registered participants at noon, the "Plunge" at 2 p.m. and a celebration and awards ceremony with live entertainment at 3 p.m. Last year's event drew more than 75 participants and raised more than $10,000. The Broken Oar is at 614 Rawson Bridge Road, (847) 639-9468. Contact Bonnie at bonnie@brokenoar.com for information.
