No one injured in Mount Prospect fire

No one was injured Wednesday in a fire inside a multifamily residence on the 1100 block of north Boxwood Drive in Mount Prospect, authorities said.

Firefighters called to 1166 N. Boxwood shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday arrived to find smoke was billowing out of one unit, according to a fire department statement.

Firefighters brought the fire under control in 10 minutes, keeping it confined to the area around the stove in the unit's kitchen, authorities said. Damage was estimated at $30,000.

All residents of the building who were home at the time got out safely, alerted by smoke alarms, authorities said. The fire was determined to be accidental.
