Fitness Fun Fair in Aurora gets kids bouncing around

Kids of all ages scampered from one bouncy house to another, their parents shuffling after them, as families took in the activities Saturday at the annual Fitness Fun Fair for Kids at the Fox Valley Park District's Vaughan Athletic Center in Aurora.

Held in the field house, the free event was divided into three areas.

Near the entrance, 33 vendor tables featuring local businesses in the health, wellness and fitness industries featured interactive activities or passed out free goodies. The middle section was dedicated to dancing to a DJ, fun with hula hoops and entertainment by a juggler on stilts and a circus-themed performer.

15-minute interactive kit fit demonstration classes were also offered to show parents the types of kid fitness classes offered at the center.

In the back was a kids play paradise, featuring five inflatable bouncy-type play areas, two rainbow parachutes, beach ball volleyball, and a pingpong table.

Lisa Peterson, the center's member services coordinator, described the event as "geared toward the whole family."

"It's a chance to come out and play, and it's centered around the family. We want to promote families and fitness."
