Chefs count on Chicago Northwest Restaurant Week deals to fill the house

For chef Vince Pecora, participating in the inaugural Chicago Northwest Restaurant Week is a no-brainer.

Pecora has operated restaurants around the suburbs for years and just opened Chef Vince's Zeal in Schaumburg. After putting a substantial sum into renovating the former Vidalia Steakhouse, it left him little for advertising.

“For me, as a new restaurant, this is a good chance to let people know what we do here and the uniqueness of the place,” Pecora said.

Developed by Meet Chicago Northwest, a regional destination marketing group, Chicago Northwest Restaurant Week runs Feb. 20 to March 2 and highlights dining opportunities in the Northwest suburbs. Meet Chicago Northwest worked with more than 30 restaurants, from casual bistros and pizzerias to steak houses and fine dining restaurants, to offer exclusive, affordably priced, three-course prix fixe lunch and dinner menus.

“As this is a quieter time of the year for many restaurants, the promotion is designed to entice food enthusiasts to get out and discover a new Chicago Northwest restaurant or type of cuisine perhaps they have not yet experienced.” said David Parulo, president of the organization. “The prix fixe menus offer exceptional values and many restaurants have created exclusive menus that will be sure to influence diners to return after Chicago Northwest Restaurant Week.”

Kyle Wendling, assistant general manager at TopGolf in Wood Dale, hopes restaurant week will show people his place is about more than golf.

“We consider ourselves an entertainment facility; we are a full-service restaurant,” he said. Yes, TopGolf's restaurant week deal includes a game of TopGolf, but the featured flatbreads draw raves from regular customers.
