S. Dakota St. runs past W. Illinois late, 62-50

MACOMB - Jordan Dykstra scored 16 of his 20 points in the second half and grabbed 13 rebounds as South Dakota State ran away from Western Illinois for a 62-50 win Saturday night.

Dykstra tied the game at 28 with 15:30 left and Jake Bittle gave the Jackrabbits the lead on back-to-back jumpers to spark a 13-4 run that put South Dakota State in charge with a 41-32 lead.

Bittle finished with 18 points and eight rebounds for South Dakota State (16-10, 8-3 Summit). The Jackrabbits shot 37 percent from the field (17 of 46) and was just 2 of 10 from long range, but held a decisive edge on the boards - outrebounding the Leathernecks 44-27.

Mike Miklusak and Garret Covington each scored 12 points to lead Western Illinois (9-16, 3-7), which shot 15 of 47 from the field (31.9 percent) and just 4 of 17 from long range.
