Crowd cheers Indiana skier for Olympic medal win

LAWRENCEBURG, Ind. - Hundreds of people gathered in the southeastern Indiana hometown of Olympic slopestyle skier Nick Goepper to watch him win the bronze medal.

The crowd turned out at Perfect North Slopes in Lawrenceburg for a watch party Thursday night of the competition in Sochi during 19-year-old Goepper and two other Americans swept the medals.

Twin brothers Anthony and Nick Ohlhaut were at the party, having met Goepper when they were 8 years old and started snowboarding with him at Perfect North Slopes.

Nick Ohlhaut tells WLWT-TV he was excited to see Goepper win an Olympic medal to bring back to their small town.

Fans wore Goepper T-shirts and brought banners to the watch party. The Olympic rings were spray painted on a hillside near the home of Goepper's family.
