Palatine District 15 picks deputy superintendent

The Palatine Township Elementary District 15 board this week hired Matthew Barbini as its new deputy superintendent of schools.

Since 2007, Barbini has served as the assistant superintendent of student services in Highland Park-based North Shore School District 112. He holds a bachelor's degree in education from Illinois State University and master's and doctoral degrees from Northern Illinois University.

"The district is fortunate to welcome Matt to the leadership team," Superintendent Scott Thompson said in a news release. "He is a skilled administrator with a proven track record of making a positive impact on the students he serves. I am confident he will make a significant contribution to the District 15 community."

Before his current post, Barbini was the director of special education for Romeoville-based Valley View School District 365-U. He also was a special education instructor in Warren Township and Downers Grove South high schools.

Barbini will join District 15 May 27.
