The life of Amelia Earhart Nov. 30 at Batavia library

Acclaimed aviatrix Amelia Earhart will be portrayed by actress Leslie Goddard at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30, at the Batavia Public Library, 10 S. Batavia Ave.

Goddard will chronicle Earhart's life, aviation records she broke and her unconventional views of marriage. Earhart's courageous exploits and spirited personality made her an international celebrity in the early 20th century. On July 2, 1937, she and her navigator, Fred Noonan, mysteriously disappeared over the Pacific Ocean during their attempted round-the-world flight.

Actress and scholar Leslie Goddard recounts Earhart's life, the records she broke, her unconventional views on marriage, and her tireless work to promote aviation and opportunities for women.

Goddard holds a Ph.D. from Northwestern University specializing in American studies and U.S. history, as well as master's degrees in theater and in museum studies.

Registration is required. Register online at www.BataviaPublicLibrary.org or call the library Reference Desk, (630) 879-1393, ext. 200.
