Schools should require uniforms

The dispute of enforcing school uniforms in public schools has been an argument for quite some time. I believe that all public schools should enforce school uniforms, or a strong dress code.

Students will still be allowed to style their hair however they please, and wear accessories as long as they follow the dress code. Parents who cannot afford new uniforms or clothes can buy hand-me-downs from other students who have outgrown the clothes, or graduated and no longer need the clothes.

Having students were uniforms encourages discipline. In the real world, every job has a uniform and getting dressed in a uniform for school every day helps prepare students for their future jobs and the dress requirements that come along with the job. Uniforms also increase a sense of belonging and school pride. When everyone is dressed in the same uniform, students are more likely to see each other as equals and they won't judge one another based on their looks. If uniforms are enforced, students will be more likely to participate in spirit weeks at school and it will be something the whole school can enjoy, while bonding and increasing school pride.

I believe all public schools should enforce uniforms, or a strong dress code, because of the positive outcomes it can have.
