Expert manipulator, astute politician

Please do not re-elect Bob Getz to the Elgin Community College District 509 board of trustees. I have served with Bob Getz throughout his twelve years as a trustee. Bob Getz is a very personable individual, an expert manipulator, an astute politician, and a tremendous campaigner. But Bob Getz is a terrible trustee.

In his emails he has verbally harassed every board chair, on an almost-monthly basis, throughout his 12 years as a trustee. Ask any board chair for the past twelve years. Not only will they verily that fact they will be happy to elaborate on it.

Bob Getz has voted against almost everything good that has happened at ECC in the last 12 years. He has every right as an elected trustee to do that very thing. But whenever it has benefited his political purpose after the fact, he has taken full credit for each of those projects that he opposed.

Getz has had but one goal for 12 years: to promote the image of Bob Getz If the item under discussion also happened to be good for the college then he was for it, but first and foremost, it has to be politically good for the image of Bob Getz.

Elgin Community College is one of the finest community colleges in the nation, but none of its successes can be attributed to Bob Getz's actions as a trustee. In his 12 years as a trustee, he has never been elected to any leadership position on the ECC board. Nor has he ever been recommended to the state or national associations for membership on any committee. Neither the citizens of District 509 nor the ECC board deserves six more years of Bob Getz.
