Residents should choose fire trustees

I am writing this letter to encourage the residents of the Warrenville Fire Protection District to vote yes on the upcoming referendum in the April election. The referendum asks if residents should vote to elect the trustees of the Warrenville Fire Protection District.

As a member of the WFPD for more than 43 years and chief operating officer the last 18 years of that time I have seen many changes to the operation, management and budget methods.

We transitioned from a small rural department to a modern suburban department with many changes including staffing, operations and budgeting. The next transition needed is to elect the governing trustees as opposed to having them appointed by the county board; county politics do not belong on our local board.

Allow our residents to decide who will govern this important unit of local government - vote yes.
