Longtime Palatine staff member gets new job in Inverness
After 16 years working for the village of Palatine, Assistant Village Manager Sam Trakas is taking on a new job in a new village — but he won’t have to go far.
Trakas will be the new Inverness village administrator. His new office is just 2.6 miles away from his old one at Palatine Village Hall.
“I’m excited to be a part of the Inverness community for the next couple decades,” Trakas said. “I want to be an integral part of the community as it grows and matures.”
Trakas began working for Palatine as an intern in 1997. He was promoted to several different positions until he became the assistant village manager in 2003.
At this week’s village council meeting, Palatine Mayor Jim Schwantz acknowledged the fine work Trakas had done for the village and said they were all going to miss him at their Monday night public meetings.
Palatine village manager Reid Ottesen said they have begun the process to recruit Trakas’ replacement.
