Chicago man charged with torturing, killing rodent

A Chicago man has been arrested on animal cruelty charges after he allegedly posted a video on YouTube that showed him torturing and killing a rat and a mouse.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that 24-year-old Michael Semens appeared in court over the weekend and was released on a $10,000 recognizance bond by a judge. Semens was ordered to remain on electronic monitoring.

A police report says that Semens posted one video in which he can be seen cutting off part of a live rat’s tail and then cutting off both of its ears with surgical scissors.

Police say that in a second video, Semens can be seen using a Taser on a mouse that was caught in a glue trap until the animal died.
