Southern Indiana woman pleads guilty to post-sex shooting

NEW ALBANY, Ind. — A southern Indiana woman has pleaded guilty to murder charges in a Kentucky man’s shooting death that authorities say happened soon after they had sex.

Thirty-two-year-old Lisa Shuler of New Albany made the guilty plea during a Floyd County hearing Wednesday. An agreement with prosecutors recommends the minimum 45-year sentence for the May 2013 death of 49-year-old Charles Pierce of Louisville.

Mildred Pierce tells The Courier-Journal she’s pleased the agreement will avoid a trial in her son’s death.

Prosecutors say Shuler told police she was worried Pierce intended to pass photos of the two having sex to her estranged husband. She was charged with shooting Pierce multiple times.

Shuler and her husband had recently separated and she moved from Madison to New Albany a few weeks before the shooting.
