CEA airport master plan topic of Tuesday meeting in Wheeling

People will get a change to weigh in on the future direction of Chicago Executive Airport in Wheeling at an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, at the Ramada Plaza, 1090 S. Milwaukee Ave. in Wheeling. Airport representatives and planning project team members will be available to answer questions regarding Phase III of the Master Plan Update. The announced purpose of the meeting is to educate, inform and seek public comment. Some residents have expressed concerns about airport noise and fears that the plan will set the stage for a longer runway to accommodate heavier planes, leading to more adverse impacts in the future. The Federal Aviation Administration requires master planning be done regularly. It's been more than 30 years since the last planning effort was completed. The airport is co-owned by Wheeling and Prospect Heights.
