Prospect produces MSL East title

Prospect earned the Mid-Suburban East’s divisional championship in girls gymnastics on Wednesday by topping Buffalo Grove and host Elk Grove.

Coach Randy Smith’s team finished at 131.2, ahead of the Bison (127.95) and the Grenadiers (124.5).

Prospect junior Maddie Larock won the all-around with a score of 37.0, finishing ahead of Elk Grove senior Amelia Rafferty (36.8), Prospect freshmen Olivia Gonzalez (35.4) and Meghan Schmit (34.5) and Buffalo Grove sophomore Diandra Duenser (33.75).

Larock took top honors on both vault (9.4) and uneven parallel bars (9.4) and finished third on beam (8.85) and floor exercise (9.25).

Rafferty had the high score on beam (9.25) and floor exercise (9.4) and finished second on vault (9.4) and bars (8.75).

Gonzalez placed second on floor (9.35) and third on vault (9.35) and bars (9.35).
