Man shot, killed in armed robbery at Bensenville store

A man is dead after being shot during an armed robbery at a Bensenville tobacco store Saturday afternoon, according to a news release.

Officers responded to a report of a possible armed robbery around 6 p.m. at Sam's Tobacco and Food Mart at 235 W. Irving Park Road, police said.

Upon arrival, police found a 36-year-old clerk shot on the ground in front of the business. The man was taken to Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

An investigation by the Bensenville Police Department and the DuPage County Major Crime Task Force is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Bensenville police at (630) 350-3455.
