Lake County sheriffs nab woman on the run

Lake County sheriff's police say a woman who's been on the run has been nabbed in a drug case that has ties to Chicago and central Illinois.

Officials announced Friday the arrest of Latanya R. Anderson, 37, of the 4100 block of Continental Drive in Waukegan. They said she was seized Wednesday as part of a multiagency operation between the sheriff's office, Lake County probation department and the U.S. Marshals Service.

Anderson was wanted on an arrest warrant issued last May for heroin trafficking conspiracy resulting in death, which was obtained by the U.S. marshals and the federal Drug Enforcement Administration. She was the last defendant on the run of five who were charged in the case, according to Lake County authorities.

Officials said the case dates to May 2010. During the period of the conspiracy, according to police, individuals would travel to Chicago to obtain heroin and bring it back to Tazewell County in central Illinois.
