Former Palatine Library Board president remembered

A memorial service for Don Maurice Jacobs, former Palatine Library Board president, will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 18, at the First United Church of Palatine, on 123 N. Plum Grove Rd.
Jacobs, who died Dec. 28, was instrumental in the completion of the current Palatine library building, according to his peers.
Nancy Heggem, who was on the library board with Jacobs for two years, said he worked hard to do all that was necessary to get the building done, including help pass the referendum that funded construction.
In honor of his efforts, his name can be found on a plaque near the library’s entranceway along with all the other board members who helped along the way.
