SIU-Edwardsville rallies to beat Austin Peay 71-67

EDWARDSVILLE— Rozell Nunn scored 15 points Thursday night, including a game-winning three-point play, as SIU-Edwarsdville rallied to beat Austin Peay 71-67.

The Cougars (5-1, 2-3 Ohio Valley) were outrebounded 35-22 and outshot 52.1 percent to 49.1 percent, but Nunn scored when it counted most.

He was fouled on his tip-in and made the free throw to put the Cougars up 69-67 with 12 seconds to play. Keaton Jackson sank two free throws to ensure the win.

Donivine Stewart and Kris Davis each scored 10 for SIU-Edwardsville, which forced 22 Austin Peay turnovers and made 12 steals.

Chris Horton led the Governors with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Will Triggs scored 17 and Demarius Smith added 11.

Tied at 34 at halftime, the Governors built a 66-58 lead with 2:27 to play. Maurice Wiltz’s 3-pointer tied it at 66, then Nunn rebounded a miss by Stewart and got the tip-in.
