Relay For Life kickoffs volunteer efforts in Bartlett

The American Cancer Society will host a kickoff event Jan. 24 in Bartlett to gear up for an annual fundraiser for cancer research.

Relay For Life of Bartlett, Hanover Park and Streamwood will offer more information on ways to volunteer and recruit donors during the kickoff event, set for 6 p.m. in the Hanover Township Senior Center, 240 S. Route 59.

Restaurants also will compete for the title of “Best Pizza of the Tri-Village Area.” Relay For Life supporters can vote for the best sausage and best cheese pizza in a blind taste test.

Admission is free for those that register for Relay For Life, an overnight fundraiser that also will celebrate cancer survivors. The relay takes place at the Hanover Township campus June 13-14. To sign up, visit relayforlife.org.

Otherwise, admission fees are $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 12 and younger and free for kids 2 and younger.

Volunteers also are needed to help organize Relay For Life’s entertainment, food and prizes. For details, call (847) 368-1166.
