Kane County Cougars unveil concert series lineup

The Kane County Cougars Wednesday announced a summer concert series that will bring five local bands — including American English and Hi Infidelity — to the Geneva ballpark for pregame concerts before Saturday night home games.

General Manager Curtis Haug said the team had one pregame concert last summer with American English.

“It went over really well with the fans. We thought for the 2014 season, why not do it five times?” Haug said. “It’s something we’re really excited about. Bringing these popular local bands to the ballpark is definitely something to enjoy.”

Gates will open at 3:30 p.m. with shows in the Cougars’ Music Garden from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The baseball games have a start time of 6:30 p.m. and are followed by fireworks.

“Once the concert’s over, people can move to the ballpark and check out a Cougars game. It’s quite a day at the ballpark,” Haug said.

The bands are: Mr. Myers Band, a Jimmy Buffett cover band, on June 21; 7th Heaven on July 12; American English, a Beatles cover band, on July 26; Suburban Cowboys on Aug. 2; and Hi Infidelity on Aug. 23.

Haug said the team also said it would make one more announcement about this season’s promotions before single-game ticket sales start Feb. 6.
