Warren hosts autism discussion

Warren Township High School hosts a Parent Café on Wednesday, Jan. 15, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., addressing the social scene for children with autism. Parents, grandparents, caregivers and respite workers are invited to a presentation co-sponsored by Warren Township High School District 121 and the Illinois Autism Training and Technical Assistance Project. The topic will focus on individuals with autism who often have the desire to be social with others but may not know how to recognize social opportunities or how to initiate and sustain an interaction. The program will be in the cafeteria at the Almond Campus, 34090 Almond Road, Gurnee. Advance registration is requested, particularly if transportation or child care is needed. For registration and information, contact Susan Coleman, special education supervisor at (847) 548-6151 or email at scoleman@wths.net.
