Lake Park fundraiser to benefit 2008 alum

The Lake Park Band Auxiliary will sponsor a benefit Thursday, Jan. 16, for a 2008 alum who suffers from an extremely rare and debilitating kidney disease.

The evening will feature a free singalong viewing of the 2012 feature film “Pitch Perfect” in the Lake Park High School auditorium, followed by a cake and ice cream social in the cafeteria.

The event begins at 7 p.m. at the West Campus, 500 W. Bryn Mawr Ave., Roselle. Tickets for the reception are $5 and include the free movie viewing.

The benefit will raise funds for Amanda Grandinetti, who suffers from Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis.

In March 2013, Amanda underwent a kidney transplant. Soon after, complications developed and the kidney was removed. The journey for a new kidney for Amanda has started all over again and money donated will be used to cover the costs of medical bills.

To learn how to become a living donor for Amanda, contact Brittany at Rush University Medical Center, (312) 947-4438. More information about FSGS is available through the Nephcure Foundation at www.nephcure.org, an organization that is committed exclusively to support research seeking the cause of FSGS and Nephrotic Syndrome, improve treatment and find a cure.

The film “Pitch Perfect” follows members of an a cappella singing group as they fight to climb their way to the top of the college music competitions. Attendees will be encouraged to sing along to favorite tunes in the movie, including “Don’t Stop the Music,” “Since U Been Gone,” and “Party in the U.S.A.”

Following the free movie, attendees will be treated to cake, ice cream and beverages in the cafeteria.

Tickets may be purchased in advance or reserved at the Lake Park Box Office for pickup on Thursday.
