Adult ‘snow day’ at Gibby’s pairs wine with chocolate

The kids had their turn this month.

Now it’s time for the parents to have a snow day.

Gibby’s Wine Den along Randall Road in Geneva is hosting an “adult snow day” at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1.

Gibby’s has paired up with Graham’s Chocolates in Geneva for a chocolate and wine pairing snow day celebration.

The two businesses will pair up fabulous hand-dipped chocolates with perfectly matched wines.

It will be a seated event with chocolates and wine pairings as part of each course.

Gibby’s and Graham’s hosted the snow day last year, and it was popular.

They are encouraging adults to make reservations, because they expect it to sell out.

The cost is $35 per ticket, and is only for those aged 21 and older.

Gibby’s also is hosting a new event this month, which they think also will be popular with customers.

They’ll be doing a Vino Van Gogh afternoon at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25, as well as Feb. 15 and March 22.

At the Vino Van Gogh event, you’ll get to taste wine and beer, and sample some small plates of food, all while creating a painted masterpiece.

You don’t need to be an artist for this event, which is open to beginners and beyond who want to have fun with friends and try some new beverages.

Vino Van Gogh will provide step-by-step instructions for creating your masterpiece, and bring all of the art supplies for you to use in making your creation. Gibby’s will help supply the rest.

For the first Vino Van Gogh on Jan. 25, budding artists will be doing the painting “Walk by the River.”

Gibby’s also has upcoming events for more experienced artists.

The business is looking to display the works of local artists inside of their store as part of its spring Bacchus Greets the Arts Event.

Artists who would like to display and sell their artwork can contact Gibby’s to participate in the March 14 event, which is in its eighth year.

The business also is looking to display the works of local artists inside year-round.

Each month, Gibby’s features the works of a new artist on its walls, giving exposure to local artists and adding a creative aura to the store.

Gibby’s is at 1772 S. Randall, and can be reached by calling (630) 208-6424.

New restaurant: A Mexican-style restaurant is coming to the Randall Road corridor in Algonquin where Diced Fresh used to be.

Instead of the salads you found at Diced, El Fuego Tacos and Burritos will be serving up Mexican fare.

The restaurant will be located at 134 S. Randall and is expected to open soon.

Open again: While they’re not exactly new, they look a lot newer inside now that they’ve been redone.

Both the Wendy’s along Randall Road in Algonquin and Buffalo Wild Wings in Algonquin had major renovations done inside, and some outside.

The restaurants are open for business again.
