2 hurt in Lake in the Hills fire

Two people were injured in an early morning fire Monday at a Lake in the Hills home.

The fire started at about 1:30 a.m. Monday on the 300 block of Chippewa Trail in Lake in the Hills, fire officials said in a release.

Algonquin-Lake in the Hills firefighters arrived to find flames coming from the lower level of the raised ranch-style home.

Two people escaped on their own but were injured and taken to local hospitals.

The fire remains under investigation and fire officials estimate damage at more than $40,000.

Carpentersville, Crystal Lake, Huntley, Fox River Grove, and Barrington Countryside Fire Departments assisted.
