Five people shot in Elgin

Five people were injured in a shooting early Sunday morning in Elgin.

About 3:10 a.m., officers responded to the 300 block of North Street for a reported shooting and found four victims, who were taken to Sherman and Presence Saint Joseph hospitals. Their injuries were not considered life threatening, police said.

A fifth victim drove to Presence Saint Joseph Hospital, also with nonlife-threatening injuries, police said.

Police are asking anyone with any information about the shooting to call the Gang Crimes Unit at (847) 289-2646.

Additionally, individuals can provide anonymous tips or information via the crime line at (847) 695-4195 or by texting 847411 and including ELGINPD in the beginning of the text.
