Black ice may have contributed to Lake-Cook crash

Black ice may have contributed to a crash on Lake-Cook Road in Palatine on Wednesday morning, police said.

Two vehicles, a 2008 Ford pickup and a 2012 Ford pickup, collided shortly before 6 a.m. on Lake-Cook Road just west of Hicks Road, police said. The driver of the 2008 truck, a 20-year-old Lake Zurich man, was cited for driving too fast for conditions. Black ice was likely a factor, police said. Neither driver was injured in the crash.

The accident was one of two that occurred near the intersection of Lake-Cook and Hicks on Wednesday morning, shutting down the roadway for a time. Information about the second crash was not available Wednesday, police said.
