Grayslake Historical Society hosts events in January

The Grayslake Historical Society hosts several events in January at the Grayslake Heritage Center and Museum, 164 Hawley St., Grayslake.

Author and historian Nancy Schumm will discuss pioneer farming at a meeting at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15. Schumm will discuss farming practices of the early settlers and will explore the current museum exhibition “Farms: Seeds of our Community.”

The society will host another, ongoing Reminisce session at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 18, in the Community Room of the museum. The topic will be “On the Street Where You Live — Westerfield.” Past and present residents and friends of Westerfield are invited to share their memories. The history of the houses and the street will be discussed.

The discussions are recorded and preserved in the archives of the society. Coffee will be served.

Reminisce is an award-winning program hosted by the society.

The opening of a new exhibition celebrating Grayslake authors and musicians will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at the museum.
