Probe into Barrington infant’s death ongoing

Barrington police continue today to investigate the death of a 7-month-old girl pronounced dead shortly after noon Wednesday.

Village police and firefighters were called to a residence in the 100 block of South Hager Wednesday in response to reports of a deceased individual. The Cook County medical examiner’s office later identified the girl as Mya Edwards. An autopsy was scheduled for this morning.

Crime scene tape surrounded the home this morning, and a Barrington Police squad car was stationed outside the residence. The Cook County Major Case Assistance Team is assisting in the investigation.

A neighbor said the family involved in the investigation has lived in the home, located just west of Barrington’s downtown, near Barrington High School, for about six months.

Barrington police said today there are no immediate plans for a news conference to further discuss the ongoing investigation.
