‘Shrek the Musical’ coming to Fox Valley Park District

“Shrek the Musical,” Fox Valley Park District’s Winter Stage production, steps into the spotlight Jan. 10, 11 and 12 at the Prisco Community Center, 150 W. Illinois Ave., Aurora.

Show times are 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10; 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11; and 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12. Tickets are $8 and may be purchased online at seatyourself.biz/foxvalleyparkdistrict or in person at the Prisco Center.

Based on the Oscar-winning film, “Shrek the Musical” is the story of an unseemly ogre — not a handsome prince — who shows up to rescue a feisty princess in a faraway kingdom. The cast includes a chattering donkey, a short-tempered villain, a cookie with an attitude and a bunch of other fairy tale misfits.

Shrek ultimately rises to the occasion and plays the hero role.
