A second day of searching for a former Des Plaines woman swept away by a swollen Indiana river Sunday was suspended last night due to darkness. Island Lake considering raising boat sticker prices

Boaters on Island Lake may pay an increased fee to enjoy the waters in 2015. The village’s lake management committee met yesterday and discussed an increase for the following year. The stickers vary in price, but typically they’re $18.75 for residents or $37.50 for nonresidents. Full story.

Vernon Hills considers $3.5 million police station remodel

The Vernon Hills police station may get a $3.5 million makeover in the coming year. Officials there say the building at 754 Lakeview Parkway needs upgrades that include a new roof and heating/air conditioning system, as well as additional locker room space for female employees and more.
