Grill causes small fire at four-unit Streamwood residence, officials say

A fire early Tuesday did minor damage to a four-unit building in Streamwood, fire officials reported.

At 6:18 a.m., the Streamwood Fire Department responded to a report of a building fire in the 200 block of Butternut Lane. The building is a four-unit residence.

Firefighters found a fire on the back side of the building. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire before it spread to the inside of the building. Building residents were safely evacuated and there were no injuries reported.

The fire was accidental and involved a portable outdoor grill, fire officials said. Damage is estimated at $10,000.
