Lake County Discovery Museum rings in new year

The Lake County Discovery Museum continued its tradition of celebrating the new year with visitors.

Children ages 3 to 12 celebrated the holiday Tuesday by making noisemakers, Chinese lanterns, postcards and designing their own Times Square ball. The “Ring in the New Year” program saw around 100 participants for the drop-in event over the two days. A ball drop was held at noon.

“The program is a fun, family-friendly way to celebrate new year,” museum educator Jen Hart said. “A way for kids to explore other cultures.”

Children learned about customs for celebrating the new year from 10 countries.
