Woman beaten to death in home
Police in Country Club Hills have a suspect in custody in the fatal bludgeoning of a 42-year-old woman in her home.
City public safety director William Brown confirmed a suspect is being held, but he would not release any other information late Monday. Earlier, Brown said the death of Mary Hayden was an “isolated incident.”
The Cook County medical examiner’s office says Hayden died from a severe blow to the head. She was pronounced dead early Sunday.
Mayor Dwight Welch says a domestic dispute led to the killing. The Southtown Star reported that yellow police tape surrounded the home and yard Monday afternoon.
