McHenry County woman’s remains identified
McHenry County officials say they’ve identified a woman whose skeletal remains were found in November in a home in an unincorporated area near McHenry.
Jacqueline R. Schaefer, 49, previously lived at the home on the 500 block of Country Club Road where her remains were found. The Illinois State Police made the identification through DNA comparisons.
On Nov. 6, a caretaker for the home discovered the remains and called the sheriff’s office.
The following day, U.S. Marshals arrested William Ross in Las Vegas, Nev., and charged him with concealment of a homicidal death. Ross owns the home where Schaefer’s remains were found.
The investigation continues. Anyone with information should call the sheriff’s office criminal investigations division at (815) 334-4750.
Ross will appear in court again Feb. 13.
